Call for concept note: ISSD MSc grant 2017

The ISSD Ethiopia Project will give grant for six MSc/MA thesis researches for graduate students in 2017 interested to do their researches in one of the research thematic areas.

A. Seed value chain mapping and analysis of less addressed crops
B. Crop Varietal change and seed replacement of less addressed crops

Each successful candidate will receive a maximum grant of ETB 30,000 for her/his research activities.

Eligible candidates are required to submit concept note before or on 1 March 2017.

Vacancy for five full-time positions with the Project on Integrated Seed Sector Development in Ethiopia (ISSD Ethiopia)

Job Title: Gender and Rural Development Expert

Duty stations:

  1. Bahir Dar University, Amhara
  2. Haramaya University, Oromia
  3. Oromia Seed Enterprise, Oromia
  4. Hawassa University, SNNPR
  5. Mekelle University, Tigray

Report to: Regional scientific coordinator and project manager; and technically to ISSD Ethiopia Project Management Unit (PMU) in Addis Ababa.

The position

The job advertised by this vacancy is for the position of Gender and Rural Development Expert, for each of the duty stations mentioned above. You will function within a team of experts with complementary expertise in integrated seed sector development. You will be mainly working on strengthening informal seed system. You will also play an important role in mainstreaming gender in the project by coaching other team members in gender sensitive and responsive activity planning.

Vacancy Announcement: Gender and Nutrition Expert

 The Gender and nutrition Expert will have overall accountability to ensure strategic development, delivery of project results, and stakeholders/beneficiaries satisfactions for the integration of gender in ISSD project components, primarily in the informal seed system. The incumbent is expected to promote nutrition sensitive seed sector development. Ensure that ISSD annual activity plans are gender mainstreamed and seed production of nutrition dense crop-varieties are included and implement such activities together with other ISSD team members; provide reports on gender and nutrition related performance of the ISSD project.

Call for MSC Thesis Research Grant

The Integrated Seed Sector Development (ISSD) Ethiopia Project aims to improve smallholder farmers’ access to and use of quality seed of new, improved, and/or farmer preferred varieties to sustainably increase agricultural productivity in Ethiopia. One of the ways to achieve this goal is to increase professional capacity development in the seed sector of the country.
